Year after year, one of the hottest topics among college gymnastics fans is the floor routines. Who has the best choreography? Who stands out as the top performer? What makes a floor routine truly unforgettable? While the answers to these questions are inherently subjective, there’s no denying that certain routines seem to capture the attention of fans nationwide. A combination of factors from music choice and intricate choreography to the quality of performance all play a role in making some routines more memorable than others.
Here are 10 floor routines that we’ve been loving so far this NCAA season, along with the factors that we think make them standout!
Chae Campbell – UCLA
A list of memorable floor routines that doesn’t include UCLA’s Chae Campbell would be a crime! Campbell is a once-in-a-generation kind of performer; someone whose musicality and execution of technical dance elements (without formal dance training) is incredibly rare. This year, Campbell’s floor routine serves as an audition for Missy Ellitot’s tour, putting her ability to perform high energy choreography while doing some of the best tumbling in the NCAA on full display. No big deal. Missy Elliot – please book her immediately.
Brooklyn Moors – UCLA
Year after year, UCLA’s Brooklyn Moors serves us technical masterpiece after technical masterpiece. When you think her routines can’t get any better, they somehow do. Brooklyn has a way of putting a dramatic flair into every movement — from the eyes that pierce into your soul to the signature layout step out that lands right on the beat. There’s actual intention behind Moor’s movements; every arm placement or breath has a purpose. Few gymnasts around the country have mastered the art of telling a story in a minute and thirty seconds and for that, we salute you Brooklyn!
Jordan Chiles – UCLA
Another UCLA floor routine in our Top 10? Shocking. Jordan Chiles has been such a blessing to college gymnastics and she radiates joy every time she takes to the floor. Chiles has a special way of connecting with the audience and commanding their attention. This year, her Prince-inspired routine is maybe one of the most high-energy pieces we’ve ever seen — she literally doesn’t stop moving and we aren’t talking enough about how challenging that is! In a press conference on Feb. 1, 2025, Chiles told the media that her goal is to show everyone why UCLA gymnastics is “the best show in LA” and she continues to prove that every week.
Creslyn Brose – Kentucky
Creslyn Brose is only a sophomore, and yet she performs with the confidence of a veteran. The precision and energy behind each movement makes it hard to look away when she’s performing. She oozes sass and charisma from the second her music starts and she carries it through all the way to the ending pose! We know that gymnastics fans hate when commentators say that a gymnasts floor routine matches their personality, but we’d like to make an exception for Brose. Her bubbly, outgoing and energetic personality really shines through in her floor routine!
Aleah Finnegan – LSU
Watching Aleah Finnegan perform on floor without a smile on your own face is an impossible task. Something about her presence on this event feels light-hearted, playful and effortless. Many gymnasts are so focused on their tumbling that the performance aspect gets a bit lost, but for Finnegan it has always felt so natural. Even when she makes a mistake, her performance quality does not waver.
Jordan Bowers – Oklahoma
Few gymnasts will pull the crowd in as easily as Jordan Bowers does. Her music is unique and unlike anything we’re hearing around the country, the choreography is incredibly nuanced — oftentimes it takes several watch-throughs to catch all the little details — and her eyes will pierce a hole through your soul. It’s a style that has become her trademark, yet KJ Kindler continues to evolve it year after year, consistently bringing something fresh and exciting to the table.
Joscelyn Roberson – Arkansas
Joscelyn Roberson is known for her powerful tumbling, but the fast paced and energetic choreography in this routine caught our eye from the moment we saw it! We could immediately picture her nailing a routine in Bud Walton with the crowd going crazy behind her. Between her sky high tumbling and effervescent smile, Roberson is a firecracker on floor. And who doesn’t love music that is so easy to clap along too? Ultimately it’s the routines that spark joy for the audience that end up being the most memorable.
Kyrstin Johnson – Temple
This routine garnered nearly 200k views on TikTok and it’s not hard to see why! Kyrstin is a natural performer — enfusing her personal style into every aspect of the routine from the choreography to the music choice. It’s music that most people will instantly recognize (Kendrick Lamar) and be able to get into, along with dance that commands your attention. The perfect recipe for virality!
Sierra Ballard – LSU
In our opinion, Sierra Ballard may just be the most underrated performer in the NCAA! She performs with an intensity and confidence that is hard to teach. The music and choreographic elements in this routine are so subtle, it takes a few watch throughs to truly appreciate all the little details! Head coach Jay Clark often refers to Sierra as the fire-starter due to her position as the leadoff athlete who sets the tone for the rest of the lineup and this routine really embodies the fire and passion that Sierra Ballard is known for.
Addison Fatta – Oklahoma
This is a routine that took awhile to grow on us, but the more we watched it, the more we came to appreciate how unique it is. The music and choreography truly stands out from the rest of the field and there is not a beat that is missed in the dance. Addison commands the audiences attention and KJ did a wonderful job tailoring this piece to her personal style.
